Only this time, I crossed it without actually leaving the country. The term is flagpolling, and it took place at the truck crossing.
The number 15 is obviously irrelevant, the real deal was the certificate of my permanent residence I was holding with my passport. All in all, I became a permanent resident - landed immigrant as many of you know it. Interestingly, but not surprisingly, the border service agent had to use his cheat sheet to properly conduct the ceremony, which mostly consisted of data verification.
I was thinking about listing my thanks and "gratefuls" to everybody who helped me to get this far, but it would have an Oscar-style feel to it, what I really don't like to allow myself.
Thank you all.
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-23262183036759304262010-02-11T09:06:00.000-08:002010-02-11T09:09:11.386-08:00Vancouver - Helló Világ! - Welcome World!
Már csak egyet kell aludni!
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-70919323577644117722008-12-31T10:15:00.000-08:002008-12-31T10:27:36.460-08:00Happy New Year - BUÉKI wish a very Happy New Year to all my friends, enemies, readers, non-readers, co-workers, ex-co-workers, co-ex-workers, girlfriends and wannabe's around the globe.
Minden kedves olvasómnak, nemolvasómnak, ismerősöknek és ismeretleneknek - a világ minden tájára, aszélrózsa minden irányába - Sikerekben Gazdag és Sikertelenségekben Szegény Boldog Új Évet Kívánok!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaziFLNUEbycmV_pca8_OoexCnoZPI559mtPRp7L1V-nHHHMfeseXT48xaVeAr296j22VOFt5Dh-Xck2GnjZ4QLLLCbt3O2MPr77td_aRJWtTjkW-yMfZSAI_GrZr5QI6tFnQUUi0iOwS7/s200/petiiphone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286022331070264626" />
A kép az idei első előszilveszteri buliján készült / the pic was taken at my first pre-new-pre-years-pre-party.
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-13699823121565108592007-09-09T23:29:00.000-07:002007-09-09T23:43:47.743-07:00looking back into myself
Arrived, hunted appartment, moved in, furnished, played poker, cooked, Stinged, hiked, down-hilled, blog-knight challenged, fireworked, certified, suntanned, had work, had fun, and laughed out loudly.

Everything happened pretty much as expected, settled down in the first six months. The less count win.
We ended up with a 1-1 draw with apuska, cause i wrote a comment about the pride parade in Budapest, and using the word homosexual instead of gay. Mount Seymour, Steveston és White Rock in the order of visit. The sky - despite Geoff reported sunshine for the whole day - wasn't cleared by the morning, so we started our trip in a awful weather in her white sports car. It was rainging heavily. This shouldn't have been a problem to look down from Mount Seymour, but the cloud level was below the mouuntain so we didn't seen anything but fog. After this, we decided to give the weather (and Geoff) an other chance and headed south.
At the turn of the twentieth century, Steveston was the busiest fishing port in the world, with fifteen salmon canneries, six hotels, numerous saloons and gambling dens, and up to fourteen windjammers simultaneously loading canned salmon for world markets. In the heart of old Steveston Village is the Steveston Museum. The place has nice houses and a dock, the whalewatching boats are starting from here as well. The museum presented the historical devices fairly authentic way, so i got a small wild-western walking around the small rooms :) We celebrated the lighter shower with a short walk, and got into a souvenir shop as well.
After leaving Stevenstone, we arrived to White Rock, and we got into a restaurant escaping from the rain. White Rock is a "holiday village" just next to the US border. It cleared a bit after lunch so we got to the pier. Getting back to the coast we got into a small house meant to be a museum, but it had only a small room showing a telegraph-station:

On the way home we entered the casino (this was the B-plan for the rain) - this was my first time in such a place, so with virgin-hands i didn't spend 25 bucks, rather left them with a 140CAD winning... good DEAL!
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-87296026114845055382006-05-08T21:59:00.001-07:002007-05-27T10:14:06.230-07:00live musicThis week i coloured my weekday-evenings with live music events. We visited the Roxy Club on tuesday for the "CFOX Canadian Content Concert Series presents Damsel Fly with special guests". For the cover we got free pizza slices and an entry drink as well. THe first band was pretty good (Dasha), but Demsel Fly was playing louder and heavier than my receptors could stand that kind of rock music. After a couple of beers we walked across the street to Caprice with a 80-90' party which was fitting to our needs better. [...] We got home with the last-before Seabus.

For Thursday we accepted Morgan and Rob's invitation to the mexican restaurant 2 blocks from our appartment. I could try CHIMICHANGA finally, and drank Corona which is acceptable if you are sitting in a mexican restaurant. I liked the place and it was a lovely evening.

Friday, we started in Toby's Pub on Commercial, where Miss Jennifer Hershmann was singing the music was extended with a Chicken Quesadilla proven to be a good choice. I wake up. Geting out from the bed! That happened only because the Sun Run is going to happen on this shiny sunday morning. The Sun Run is the sport event which makes the most people to do something really healthy. (I am afraid the Canucks games are getting more citizens excited, but especially not in these days... ) This year with record-beating 50746 registered runners, i took part in canadas biggest 10K run. Letting 50K people run in the same time in the same direction was successfully driven my Turkish troops in 1526 (yes, the hungarian "army" was running away) , but so far the world is more civilised (especially this corner) so we crossed the start-line in 2-3K batches, letting the faster runners first. I was waiting in a middle-rated group (white numbers) so 53 minutes after the start-shoot i crossed the start and was registered via my chip fastened to my shoe. By this time, the first fastest guy from Kenya had been waiting for the medal ceremony with a time 28:15 ... After passing the first kilometer, i stopped for taking photos several times, especially when i passed the bands playing along the route. Cypress is a much better ski resort than Grouse, altough i am not a pro skier a enjoyed it very much. The weather was a "bit" foggy, so on my last run i fell on my face because i entered fresh snow area without noticing that.
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-64121569274064251282006-04-28T17:30:00.001-07:002007-05-27T10:14:06.235-07:00Whistler - continuedPicture of the week

The Sea to Sky Highway is currently extended to fit the needs of the 2010 Winter Olympics taking place in several locations in an around Vancouver. One of this is the Whistler a small village built for ski addicts or normal ski-tourist. The route is very nice with the Sea on the left and mountains on our right, waterfalls and small lakes. The one on picture is Murrin lake had some nice flowers in it, i offer a beer for the name of this flower. After realiyed that there is no path in the forest to find something else around the lake, we got back to the car. After reaching Whistler we decided to find a place to stay first, and then look around. Well we did it 2-in-1, cause it was hard to find a place to stay for the night, so we check out all the small streets and in the heaviest snowing, Martin got a free room for a reasonable price in the Cascade Lodge. The whole village is prepared for tourism, with shops, bars, and motels. We walked around and tested the beers and checked the ski resorts, and after having a dinner we jumped into the night. Following Jennifers advice we entered Tommy Africa for the night, and it was worth :) I tested a new drink here called Bloody Cesar, which contains Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, cellar-salt, pepper, tomato sauce and vodka its very spicy so after the third one a switched back to drink whiskey. The party was cut half at 2am, so we went back to our room, and fell asleep. (we made some tricks with the elevator in the lodge, but i don't remember all the details... ;) We nearly got a 100 CAD fine not getting back the keys by 10am, we did it at 9:59, and headed North for the Green Lake, which was actually not green, but i think that was because the temperature was low. For record, there is an "airport" on the lake for hydroplanes. Ain't it cool?
After checking the green of a practice golf court next to the lake, we got to the car and steered our car back to North Vancouver. We nearly passed the Shannon Waterfall, but luckily i noticed that, so we stopped there, as well. Getting back to the appartment, we realized, that Duncan organized us a skiing day for Cypress, but we missed it because of our Whistler, we managed to complete this on sunday ... to be continued
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1631046646393906988.post-83666607872495633552006-04-17T23:14:00.001-07:002007-05-27T10:14:06.236-07:00WhistlerAfter a short hesitation period, we rented a car with Martin to go to Whistler. I am flying to Vancouver with British Airways 8th April, to work for my favourite employer: GMI. The mission is planned to last 2 months, so I am going to watch the FIFA World Cup from Europe - at least i hope so.
I am planning to balance the schedule of my tourist actions during these two months, with a hike on the Grouse Grind, biking in forests, boast trip to Victoria, where the parliament of British Columbia can be found.
You can expect to have some posts tagged "lunch-for-10CAD", "dinner-beer-combo-for-20CAD". You shouldn't wait for "girl-for-100CAD-in-bedroom" and "stepping-into-dog-droppings-again".
In case of need - and proper honorary - i will discover the full area of LHR in not more than 3 hours, without playing "leave-my-backpack-on-the-floor" because of its unhealthy nature (I already know the feeling when a security is fumbling in my underwear, having the backpack-"joke" i am afraid i would get more internal detection :))
non-profit content generated by a human being.
Nopehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00672322780656567087noreply@blogger.com0
